Fern Croft

During 2013 Beal Vale Primary School successfully secured National Lottery funding to create an orchard and wildlife area within our school grounds. The children named the area ‘Fern Croft’.

The project allowed our school to open one of the most innovate community gardening facilities in the area. We aim to provide pupils and families to have acess to green space.

‘Fern Croft’ is open to the whole community allowing opportunities for a wide range of ages to mix, communicate and learn. Application for plots can we arranged with the schools office.

Residents are engaged in the development of the garden to help the school’s youngsters grow fruits, vegetables and plants and understand wildlife, whilst encouraging healthy lifestyles.

‘Fern Croft’ is also used in conjunction with learning and lessons – from understanding planting and lifecycles through to mathematical calculations and enterprise development.
